Denmark team doctor, Morten Boesen, has confirmed that Christian Eriksen is in stable condition after collapsing during Denmark’s international friendly match.

Providing an update on the midfielder’s health, Boesen disclosed that Eriksen briefly lost consciousness on the pitch but recovered quickly and was able to walk off unaided.

“Christian is doing well and walked off the pitch by himself. As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should,” Boesen said.

“He was briefly unconscious but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him.

“He will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident. We are in ongoing contact with him and the doctors at the hospital.

“But Christian is doing well, and he asked me to send his regards to all the players and tell them that he was okay.”

The incident sparked concern among teammates, supporters and football fans worldwide, particularly given Eriksen’s previous cardiac emergency during the UEFA Euro 2020, after which he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), commonly referred to as a pacemaker.

Medical examinations are expected to determine the cause of the latest collapse, while Danish football authorities continue to monitor his condition.
