Julius Berger outperforms rivals to win regional award again
Leading engineering and construction firm, Julius Berger Nigeria, has once again consolidated its dominance in the West African infrastructure space after emerging as the Best Construction and Infrastructure Company of the Year (West Africa) for the second consecutive year at the West Africa Innovation Awards held in Lagos.
The award, presented on Thursday, saw Julius Berger outperform other major industry players including Micheleti Construction Ghana Limited and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, reinforcing its position as a key player in the region’s construction sector.
According to the Chairman of the Awards Organising Committee, Canmil Chineme, the recognition is designed to honour organisations that have demonstrated excellence and consistency in critical sectors driving regional development. He said the selection followed extensive consultations and rigorous evaluation by a panel of judges.
Chineme added that the award reflects Julius Berger’s strong reputation for innovation, customer service, and adherence to global best practices in engineering and infrastructure delivery.
Reacting to the recognition, the company’s Director of Administration, Dr. Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, described the award as a reaffirmation of over five decades of commitment to excellence, safety, and nation-building across Nigeria and West Africa.
He noted that infrastructure development remains central to the company’s identity, stressing that Julius Berger’s projects go beyond construction to long-term economic and social impact.
“Tonight, we celebrate more than concrete, steel, and asphalt. We celebrate vision, resilience, and the transformative power of infrastructure in shaping economies, connecting communities, and improving lives,” he said during his acceptance remarks.
Dr. Kaita further highlighted the company’s continued investment in innovative engineering solutions, sustainable construction practices, cold recycling technology, local content development, and human capital empowerment.
He added that Julius Berger remains committed to delivering infrastructure that supports economic growth, creates jobs, improves connectivity, and strengthens national development across the region.
The company dedicated the award to its workforce, including engineers, technicians, architects, artisans, and support staff, describing them as the backbone of its longstanding reputation for quality delivery.
The 15th edition of the West Africa Innovation Awards also recognised other organisations such as Sovereign Trust Insurance PLC, Vitafoam, CRC Credit Bureau Limited, and West African Human Resource Outsourcing Company, in an evening marked by industry celebration and corporate excellence.
