INEC updates portal, fully recognises PDP faction

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the names of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro from its portal as National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively, replacing them with new office holders.

The update shows Odeyemi Mackson Oladiran as National Treasurer and Eyim Donatus Henry as National Financial Secretary, following the emergence of new party executives at the PDP’s 2026 national convention held in Abuja.

The changes, which appeared on INEC’s official portal, are the latest development in the ongoing internal leadership tussle within the opposition party.

Oladiran and Henry were said to have emerged through consensus alongside 19 other officials during the convention held at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium on March 29.

The previously listed officials, Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro, are reportedly aligned with the Seyi Makinde-backed faction led by Kabiru Turaki, while their replacements are associated with the faction linked to Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

INEC had earlier recognised the Wike-aligned faction by listing Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, though the inclusion of rival faction members on the portal had generated confusion within the party.

With the latest update, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) list on INEC’s portal now largely reflects the Wike-backed leadership structure.

Other officials listed include Aaron Chukwuemeka (Deputy National Chairman, South), Yusuf Nya Akirikwen (Deputy National Chairman, North), Kolawale Olabisi (Deputy National Secretary), Lado Dan Marke (Deputy National Treasurer), and Eyim Donatus Henry (National Financial Secretary), among others across various NWC positions.

The development underscores the deepening internal divisions within the PDP as rival factions continue to contest control of the party’s national structure ahead of future elections.
