Sen Jarigbe emerges APC consensus candidate For Cross River North Senatorial seat
Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Cross River North Senatorial District following extensive consultations with aspirants and party stakeholders across the zone.
The development comes ahead of the APC senatorial primary scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.
As part of the consensus arrangement, three aspirants from Bekwarra Local Government Area — Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, Barr. Cecilia Adams and Dr. John Onyi — officially stepped down from the race and endorsed Senator Jarigbe.
The aspirants said their decision was driven by the need to promote unity, continuity and stronger representation for the people of Cross River North at the National Assembly.
Political observers say the emergence of Senator Jarigbe as consensus candidate reflects increasing confidence in his leadership style, legislative experience and grassroots support across the five local government areas in the senatorial district.
The latest endorsement places the senator in a strong position ahead of the APC primary and the 2027 general elections.
