Brazil beat Japan 2-1 to book World Cup last-16 spot
Brazil booked their place in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Monday after Gabriel Martinelli struck deep into stoppage time to seal a dramatic 2-1 victory over Japan in Houston.
Martinelli’s winner, scored in the sixth minute of added time, capped an entertaining round-of-32 contest and sent Brazil through to the next stage.
The five-time world champions will now face the winners of the round-of-32 clash between Norway and Ivory Coast in the last 16.
