The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has received a financial contribution from the NUJ FCTA Chapel towards its ongoing Multipurpose Congress Hall construction project.

The donation marks a major milestone, making the FCTA Chapel the first NUJ chapel to formally support the project financially.

The contribution was presented during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the FCTA Chapel to the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat.

The delegation was led by the Chapel Chairperson, Ngozi Ufomba, and included Vice Chairman Hassan Sadiq, Secretary Niyi Lawal and Press Week Secretary Odugbo Sarah.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Council, NUJ FCT Council Vice Chairman, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, expressed appreciation for the chapel’s gesture.

He commended the leadership of the FCTA Chapel for what he described as a thoughtful and strategic decision, noting that the donation would be formally documented as part of the project’s records.

Ndambabo said the chapel’s collective commitment to advancing the construction project reflected a strong sense of responsibility and solidarity within the union.

He also urged journalists to regard the union as their own institution by contributing to its growth and supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the media community and national development.

The Multipurpose Congress Hall project, which was unveiled during the council’s first anniversary celebration last year and entered the construction phase earlier this year, has continued to attract widespread support from stakeholders.

According to Ndambabo, the project has recorded steady progress due to the commitment and determination of the leadership of the council.

He credited the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, for driving the initiative with the goal of completing and delivering a functional congress hall before the end of her first term in office.

The NUJ FCT Council is expected to formally recognise the FCTA Chapel’s contribution through an official letter of appreciation.
